Our Story

Creative Philomath Underline.png

- The why behind Creative Philomath -

Typewriter

We didn’t start this to sell answers.

We started it because we were asking the same questions..

What do you do when your creative spark goes quiet?
How do you keep making when the doubt gets louder than the dream?
Where do you turn when you’re stuck, not because you don’t care, but because you care so much it hurts?

Creative Philomath was born in that in-between.

Not at the beginning, where everything feels fresh and thrilling.
Not at the end, where everything’s polished and celebrated.
But right in the thick of it, the messy middle, the fragile restart, the quiet attempt to try again.

So we asked ourselves something else:

How do we help the creator do what they love doing the most: create

What We’re Creating

Right now, we’re writing through the 10 most common struggles creatives face, turning years of observation, conversation, and experience into something useful, honest, and healing.

It’s not about “getting over” your blocks.
It’s about walking with them, learning from them, and still making space to create.

Alongside that, we’re slowly building tools and resources:

  • Blogs, newsletters and reflections on the creative side of life

  • Guided practices and future workbooks

  • Community-first offerings that speak to the real, hard parts of making

  • A new digital tool... but more to come on that

It’s early days. But we believe that’s where the best things begin.

Who’s Behind This

- Creative Philomath is built for creators, by creators. -

Jacob Stolt

CEO & Founder, Creative Philomath

Jacob is a writer, drummer, creative strategist, and philomath who lives for the space between big ideas and the quiet work it takes to bring them to life.

After years of helping independent creators get their visions printed, marketed, and shared with the world. While leading marketing and eCommerce efforts for a fast-moving creative brand, he realized something: most creatives don’t need more pressure. They need more permission.

That realization became the spark behind Creative Philomath, a space for slow growth, real reflection, and honest tools for people trying to make meaningful things.

He believes creativity is both identity and practice. That consistency matters more than perfection. And that we become who we’re meant to be by making, especially when it’s messy.

Outside of CPM, you’ll find him working on his homebrewed D&D campaign, coming up with a new story for the fourth time this week, deep in marketing mode, or trying to finish a book (both written and reading) without starting five more ideas in the process.

Jeremiah (JD) Brown

Chief Communications Officer & Co-Founder, Creative Philomath

One of JD’s favorite dishes is Budae-Jjigae, Korean Military Stew.

It is not his favorite just because of its delicious spicy, savory and hearty flavor, but because of the story of how it came to be. Ingredients that came about through a time of desperation to a comfort-food delicacy.

Having a career that has so far spanned video marketing, TV news reporting, and now civil service, his heart has always craved the stories behind the stories. JD believes everyone has a story worth telling, worth hearing, and worth learning from. Now taking the dive into fiction writing and Creative Philomath, he hopes to bring about a community where writers and creatives can share their own stories, and use their unique experiences to shape their work.

Outside of writing and CPM, you can find JD working out, planning his next Korean BBQ party, or with his church community, and no, he does not get enough sleep.

The work is slow, intentional, and deeply personal.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
